It is religions that teach fatalism, not yoga. Yoga frees us from fatalism and the fixed scroll of destiny and its wheels under which we find ourselves perpetually crushed.
Faith is there in everybody since without it we cannot move a step forward. But it is invested in the little present formation and our limited capacities or else in reason or science etc.
While Sri Aurobindo didn’t ask disciples to regard themselves as his equals or anything of the sort, at the same time he did not specifically instruct them in a set of dos and don'ts with regard to their relation with him.
One of the first things that awakens through yoga is the flame of discernment which is a faculty higher than reason. Its light separates the true from the false, reality from appearances and masks.
