It is brief summary of the story and its central theme, that is the conquest of Love over death and fate. This love is of course not the usual passion that human beings experience but a Power that descends from high to save creation.
Thus we see in this brief but succinct Canto not only a glimpse of Savitri’s divine personality, the purpose and mission of her birth, but in a wider sense the purpose of our own birth in this play of Space and Time.
Thus ends this powerful canto that in a way summarises Savitri’s work and mission and brings us in touch with the Divine Mother’s being. Savitri the book and Savitri the incarnate Divine Mother, whose touch we receive through the book, become thereby a means for our own liberation and transformation.
Nature is not merely a blind mechanical Energy, building forms and then destroying them. A Wisdom, a vast, luminous Intelligence, a conscious Force stands concealed, working behind all the movements of Nature. This truth is being brought home to us in the lines that follow.
Savitri once again shows us the way, the way to true freedom and mastery. She has come to show us that man need not be subject to the blind determinism of Fate. Destiny can be changed but for that we must awaken our soul within and call down the Grace from Above.
"...we see a glimpse of the inner life of Savitri, an incarnation of the Divine Mother. Though She is human in appearance, Her deeds well from a superhuman source and leave footprints of the incarnate Divine along whose tracks the future will walk."
What is described in the passages that follow is the predicament of human life caught in some dubious game of cosmic powers that keep us tied to the outposts of Ignorance. Sri Aurobindo compares this ordinary human life to the life of those who, as Savitri, have risen to a greater Supernature and become conscious of their Divine Origin.
The next movement describes summarily, as it were, Savitri’s life until this moment, and contrasts it with the ordinary human life. The Master Poet also reveals the general law of earthly evolution which is largely under the law of Ignorance and the stress of Suffering and pain.
Of all the powers that Savitri embodies the most potent is Love. What follows is a vivid description of Her inner being which could harbor this all-powerful transmuting flame. It inspires and uplifts, sets a supreme and sublime example before humanity, opens our inner doors to the Divine Mother’s wonderful Heart of Love, filling us with Her Peace and Light and Sweetness and Bliss.
