Opening Remarks
No season of life lasts forever. The rains that thrash the soil of our nature too pass away giving way to a pensive autumn and a winter whence we shed the old, the past as a preparation to move towards the future.
Earth’s mood now changed
Earth’s mood now changed; she lay in lulled repose,
The hours went by with slow contented tread:
A wide and tranquil air remembered peace,
Earth was the comrade of a happy sun.
Rain is followed by a lull repose for the earth as if she lay contented and at ease. The air was tranquil and wideness remembered peace. Earth could once again be a comrade of the sun that was shone again on the horizons of sight.
Calmness and meditation
A calmness neared as of the approach of God,
A light of musing trance lit soil and sky
And an identity and ecstasy
Filled meditation’s solitary heart.
The purification is inevitably followed by a state of calm as of one approaching God. A light trailed through the soil and the sky creating a meditative mood in which the soil and the sky, heaven and earth seemed to meet in identity and ecstasy.
A meditative dream state
A dream loitered in the dumb mind of Space,
Time opened its chambers of felicity,
An exaltation entered and a hope:
An inmost self looked up to a heavenlier height,
An inmost thought kindled a hidden flame
And the inner sight adored an unseen sun.
A dream seemed to float in the mind of Space and Time opened its doors of felicity again. With this new opening there entered an exaltation and a hope. The soul of earth looked up the ascension it yet must accomplish. The thoughts were aglow with a hidden flame and an inner sight adored an unseen sun that seemed to dawn within.
Three thoughtful seasons
Three thoughtful seasons passed with shining tread
And scanning one by one the pregnant hours
Watched for a flame that lurked in luminous depths,
The vigil of some mighty birth to come.
The period of conception was coming to a close through the three seasons preparing for the Divine Advent. They waited for the flame-child lurking in Nature’s depths to be born as if for a mighty divine birth.
Glory of the autumn moons
Autumn led in the glory of her moons
And dreamed in the splendour of her lotus pools
And Winter and Dew-time laid their calm cool hands
On Nature’s bosom still in a half sleep
And deepened with hues of lax and mellow ease
The tranquil beauty of the waning year.
The glory of the autumn moons led to the cool winter when earth lay in a lax and dreaming state full of hues. The dew filled the year with tranquil beauty as it neared its end.
Closing Remarks
It is a perfect and beautiful description of the period of conception through which all creation passes and the prescience of a mighty birth yet to arrive.
