Opening Remarks
It is a land of supreme harmony with endless possibilities, a play of infinite beings and forces each conscious of the whole and rooted in oneness.
Spiritual links
There were no contraries, no sundered parts,
All by spiritual links were joined to all
And bound indissolubly to the One:
Each was unique, but took all lives as his own,
And, following out these tones of the Infinite,
Recognised in himself the universe.
Here there were no contraries but only complementary parts joining with all others through spiritual links rather than the links of ego and ignorance as here. All this play of the many was taking place with full awareness of the One. Each was unique but took all lives within itself and lived in the state of universality.
Recurring decimals of eternity
A splendid centre of infinity’s whirl
Pushed to its zenith’s height, its last expanse,
Felt the divinity of its own self-bliss
Repeated in its numberless other selves:
It took up tirelessly into its scope
Persons and figures of the Impersonal,
As if prolonging in a ceaseless count,
In a rapturous multiplication’s sum,
The recurring decimals of eternity.
Each element discovered its own ultimate possibility and saw itself one with the infinity, one among many centres of this infinity. It saw all beings there as figures of the One Impersonal multiplying Itself endlessly and thereby multiplying Its rapture absolute. Each was a recurring decimal of eternity that stood behind it.
Each held the whole
None was apart, none lived for himself alone,
Each lived for God in him and God in all,
Each soleness inexpressibly held the whole.
The reign of the ego and the divisions of ignorance had ended. Each lived for God in himself and God in others and in the whole. Each soleness held the whole within it forming the true basis of harmony.
Oneness not tied to monotone
There Oneness was not tied to monotone;
It showed a thousand aspects of itself,
Its calm immutable stability
Upbore on a changeless ground for ever safe,
Compelled to a spontaneous servitude,
The ever-changing incalculable steps,
The seeming-reckless dance’s subtle plan
Of immense world-forces in their perfect play.
There Oneness was not sameness but expressed itself in numberless ways. It revealed a thousand aspects of itself. It provided the stable basis, the calm immutable support for the many-faceted play. Each spontaneously obeyed the law of Oneness and its incalculable steps thereby serving Truth. The seemingly reckless spontaneous dance without pre-planning became the perfect play of immense world-forces
Being’s secret integers
Appearance looked back to its hidden truth
And made of difference oneness’ smiling play;
It made all persons fractions of the Unique,
Yet all were being’s secret integers.
Each appearance was only a frontal aspect of a vast infinite truth of which it knew itself as the secret integer. The difference became the smiling play of oneness and each persona fraction of the Sole Unique.
Closing Remarks
The disorderly dance of the lower creation where the separative ego and ignorance spoil the wonderful play changed into beautiful and harmonious rhythms of the Eternal.
