This world is neither an illusion nor a meaningless vanity built by some dreaming god. There is a deep meaning hidden in each and every experience of life. There is a purpose in creation, a sanction from the Eternal upholds this game of transient things.
Sri Aurobindo has given a new yoga for the world and man. It is a yoga that integrates life by transforming it into a divine image. Today we share some thoughts of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo on the subject taking up Her New Year message of 1970 as a base.
A single lamp lit in perfection's house,
A bright pure image in a priestless shrine,
Midst those encircling lives her spirit dwelt,
Apart in herself until her hour of fate.
Their lives replied to hers, moved at her words:
They felt a godhead and obeyed a call,
Answered to her lead and did her work in the world;
Their lives, their natures moved compelled by hers
Death creates a seemingly unbridgeable gulf between Spirit and Matter thereby thwarting the dream of a divine life upon Earth. Savitri responds to his lie by once showing the unity of creation with the Creator.
'A friend and yet too great wholly to know,
She walked in their front towards a greater light,
Their leader and queen over their hearts and souls,
One close to their bosoms, yet divine and far.'
