A film by Basile Vignes, Auroville 2008. In Sanskrit Shantakaram " the embodiment of peace" This ancient Vedic Mantra taken from the Upanishads is an invocation to Vishnu who represents the omnipresent consciousness supporting our universe.
The true solution to the enigma of evil and pain lies in transforming the Inconscient base upon which earthly life stands. But this is no mean or easy task. The powers of the Inconscience oppose and deny, and until the Inconscient law is changed, the lasting remedy for pain will continue to elude us.
The 10th May is Buddha Purnima, the birthday of Siddhartha, the prince who would walk out of a kingly life and royal palace in search of a solution to misery and suffering. His is a life of seeking and enlightenment, his master word is compassion, his goal nirvana. We share some of the thoughts of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother on Buddha.
Sri Aurobindo has reportedly written that “There are three ways of blessing of the Mother: by sight, by touch and through flowers. And it is through flowers that Her blessings are most effective.”
The problem of pain is not just an individual problem though the life of individuals is caught up in it. It is a cosmic problem whose occult roots lie in the dark subconscient and inconscient terrains. It is this that has to be tackled and it is for this that the Avatara descends upon Earth.
One of the challenges for a spiritual aspirant is how should he deal with life. On one side he is expected to practice the acceptance of all things as the Divine, on the other - to labour and put in effort towards self-perfection. How are these two attitudes, seemingly contradictory, are to be reconciled is the theme of today’s sharing.
