To stay clean within and without, to radiate beauty in all we think and speak and feel and do is certainly a divine quality. But to associate it with the colour of dress may often lead to a false sense of purity in oneself and becomes often enough a means of posturing that is not conducive to true spiritual progress. Of course there are always a few people who are genuine and their dress is either an outer representation of who they are within and serves to keep away certain elements because it declares what they stand for. The same is true of bath. Of course bathing is so important to health and wellness but to become rigid about a particular time to an extent as to become restless if conditions are different is to become bound to an external rule rather than be it’s master. It is rigidity and narrowness that is being talked about and not the need for cleanliness and beauty.
Purity is after all to be completely under the divine influence and therefore it necessitates a certain degree of plasticity and wideness, and most of all an inner sincerity that does not believe in shows or dresses to flatter the spiritual ego but simply quietly follows the inner discipline needed for the path. True mastery is by its very nature a mastery under all circumstances of life else it would a thing conditional and therefore not really a true freedom.
