These cults spread to propagate falsehood under different names. Their way of life was cruel and intolerant of all that did not share their belief.
Zealot fervour
A zealot fervour pushed their ruthless cults,
All faith not theirs bled scourged as heresy;
They questioned, captived, tortured, burned or smote
And forced the soul to abandon right or die.
There is the origin of the ruthless cults pushed by zealot fervour for their faith. They kill those who do not believe in their ‘gospel’ and ‘ideology’. They were quick to inflict cruelty upon those who did not subscribe to their beliefs. They denied the human soul its fundamental right to choose its unique path.
Warring sects
Amid her clashing creeds and warring sects
Religion sat upon a blood-stained throne.
They fought and killed even within themselves creating sects that were always at war even in the same Religion. The heads of these sects found their way to the throne through murderous clashes and cruel wars.
A hundred tyrannies
A hundred tyrannies oppressed and slew
And founded unity upon fraud and force.
Oppression and killing the non-believer was the way of these tyrants who had devised a hundred ways to torture those who resisted or opposed them. It was a unity founded on fear and fraudulent means.
Spiritual seeking was outcasted
Only what seemed was prized as real there:
The ideal was a cynic ridicule’s butt;
Hooted by the crowd, mocked by enlightened wits,
Spiritual seeking wandered outcasted,—
A dreamer’s self-deceiving web of thought
Or mad chimaera deemed or hypocrite’s fake,
Its passionate instinct trailed through minds obscure
Lost in the circuits of the Ignorance.
Truth and seeking for Light and Freedom was mocked at and looked down upon in this realm. Spiritual quest and practices were disallowed and declared as a web of dreams and a deception of thought. To search for spiritual truths was considered as a chimera or as something fake. Thus they trailed in their endless circuits of ignorance fooling themselves as custodians of truth.
Reversal of truth and lie
A lie was there the truth and truth a lie.
It was a world of falsehood where truth was considered a lie and a lie was sold and passed off as truth.
Closing Remarks
Deception, hypocrisy, cruelty, intolerance was the very law of this world of falsehood.
