Instead of seeing the All-beautiful Divine everywhere we end up seeing the All-fearful Death everywhere and in everything. We shrink in our comfort zones or safe zones so to say. But this also means that we shrink from our humanity and in our eagerness to safeguard our life we become oblivious of the deep pain and suffering that we inflict upon others. When we deny a wage earner his daily bread because we need that money more; when we turn away someone who has come to our doors seeking help because we are afraid of contagion then are we harming much more than the virus can do.
The virus only afflicts the body but our selfish and thoughtless actions afflict our soul and the life of others who are none else but our very own. They too are Narayana in another form. They too are Divine wearing yet another mask. In them too the One dwells who builds the world with the fiat of His Will and fills it with life by His Breath.
