Opening Remarks
The universe is like a coloured veil that hides the supreme Reality. One must go beyond it to discover what that utter supreme Truth is.
Cessation of thought and will
A fruitful world-wide Ignorance foundered here;
Thought’s long far-circling journey touched its close
And ineffective paused the actor Will.
This is where the long and laborious journey of thought and will comes to a close. It ceases recognizing its ignorance. Its efforts cannot take us one step further into the Beyond.
Luminous insufficiency
The symbol modes of being helped no more,
The structures Nescience builds collapsing failed,
And even the spirit that holds the universe
Fainted in luminous insufficiency.
All mind made things collapsed there, the structures of philosophy and theories failed. Even the light of the spirit that holds the universe was insufficient to help any further. This is so because Aswapati is entering the Transcendent realm which is beyond even the Cosmic Spirit. The Cosmic Spirit upholds the manifestation receiving the truths from the Unmanifest Transcendence Above.
Truth beyond the mind’s appeal
In an abysmal lapse of all things built
Transcending every perishable support
And joining at last its mighty origin,
The separate self must melt or be reborn
Into a Truth beyond the mind’s appeal.
The Truth that lay beyond transcended all transient things. It was beyond the mind and all its conceptions. It was the utter origin of all things into which either all must vanish or else be reborn.
Blissful Nothingness
All glory of outline, sweetness of harmony,
Rejected like a grace of trivial notes,
Expunged from Being’s silence nude, austere,
Died into a fine and blissful Nothingness.
The glory and beauty of form were rejected and expunged from Being’s silence nude and austere. It all died into a blissful Nothingness. Beauty and sweetness entered their formless state so to say.
Abolished one by one
The Demiurges lost their names and forms,
The great schemed worlds that they had planned and wrought
Passed, taken and abolished one by one.
All the great powers that we know as gods lost their names and forms in that Formless One. All that worlds they had built and their cosmic schemes were abolished one by one. The great Gods of the Overmind and their worlds entered into their own origin as aspects and powers of the One Supreme Reality.
Coloured veil
The universe removed its coloured veil,
And at the unimaginable end
Of the huge riddle of created things
Appeared the far-seen Godhead of the whole,
His feet firm-based on Life’s stupendous wings,
Omnipotent, a lonely seer of Time,
Inward, inscrutable, with diamond gaze.
As the universe was stripped bare, the last coloured veil of creation was removed. Then Aswapati beheld at the far end the Godhead of the whole hidden behind the veil of the universe. He is beyond imagination and yet the answer to the riddle of the worlds. His feet were firmly planted in Life’s stupendous wings, Omnipotent and the lonely seer of Time He was inward, inscrutable with a diamond gaze. This Godhead of the whole is the Supreme Purusha, the Supreme Self of all things. It is He who is seated on wings of Life in its unceasing journeying forwards. It is He who watches secretly all the works of Time. It is He who dwells within the core of all things.
Closing Remarks
Aswapati removes the veil of creation woven by mind and life and matter and is now ready to behold the Lord who is hidden behind it.
