Opening Remarks
The Madonna of Light starts addressing Savitri revealing herself.
Floating voice
A low music heard became her floating voice:
“O Savitri, I am thy secret soul.
A low music was her voice as if gently floating in some inner mind. Madonna of Light spoke to Savitri identifying herself as her secret soul.
I have come down
I have come down to the wounded desolate earth
To heal her pangs and lull her heart to rest
And lay her head upon the Mother’s lap
That she may dream of God and know his peace
And draw the harmony of higher spheres
Into the rhythm of earth’s rude troubled days.
She is a portion of her that has come down to heal the wounds of earth and soothe her pangs and relieve her heart drawing them to her lap. She fills the mind of man with dreams of God and acquaints him with his peace and builds in him the higher harmony amidst the troubled human life.
Figure of bright gods
I show to her the figures of bright gods
And bring strength and solace to her struggling life;
High things that now are only words and forms
I reveal to her in the body of their power.
It is only in her light that one can see the bright gods hidden by their light. She brings to man strength and solace and the high things that now are only words and forms. She reveals these things in their original form and powers.
I am Peace and Charity and Silence and Knowledge
I am peace that steals into man’s war-worn breast,
Amid the reign of Hell his acts create
A hostel where Heaven’s messengers can lodge;
I am charity with the kindly hands that bless,
I am silence mid the noisy tramp of life;
I am Knowledge poring on her cosmic map.
She is peace that finds a way to enter the wounded heart. Amidst the reign of Hell created by human action she builds a hostel for the messengers of Heaven. She is charity that blesses with kindly hands. She is silence amidst the heavy and noisy tread of life. She is knowledge of the cosmos that reveals its maps and routes.
The Power that labours towards the best
In the anomalies of the human heart
Where Good and Evil are close bedfellows
And Light is by Darkness dogged at every step,
Where his largest knowledge is an ignorance,
I am the Power that labours towards the best
And works for God and looks up towards the heights.
Amidst the anomalies of the human heart and life where Good and Evil, Light and Darkness are closely intertwined, where even our largest knowledge is an ignorance, hers is the Power that labours towards the best and working for God it lifts everything towards the heights.
March towards Light
I make even sin and error stepping-stones
And all experience a long march towards Light.
