Opening Remarks
Savitri has come to save and hence she must walk the way of the Saviour. That is now being revealed to her.
The great bondage
If thou wouldst a little loosen the vast chain,
Draw back from the world that the Idea has made,
Thy mind’s selection from the Infinite,
Thy senses’ gloss on the Infinitesimal’s dance,
Then shalt thou know how the great bondage came.
The Voice of Light reveals to Savitri how the mind selects a small portion of the Infinite based on the input by the senses and calls it ‘reality’. The Voice bids Savitri to loosen the bondage to the senses and the mind born perception of the world and discover what is the real cause of our suffering and death and pain.
God’s void
Banish all thought from thee and be God’s void.
It asks Savitri to banish all thought and be God’s Void that is to say enter the Silence and stillness of Nirvana.
God’s bare reality
Then shalt thou uncover the Unknowable
And the Superconscient conscious grow on thy tops;
Infinity’s vision through thy gaze shall pierce;
Thou shalt look into the eyes of the Unknown,
Find the hid Truth in things seen null and false,
Behind things known discover Mystery’s rear.
It is only when one consents to be Nothing and gets rid of all perceptual and conceptual constructions that one is ready to know the Reality that is covered by the mind. It is Unknowable to the mind, Superconscious to our normal state of consciousness. One has to grow conscious of That. Then one can look at life with the gaze of Infinity and look upon the face of the Absolute. The Voice asks Savitri to find the Truth hidden behind false and distorted appearances and discover the gates of the Mystery behind things that the mind believes or claims to know.
One with God’s bare reality
Thou shalt be one with God’s bare reality
And the miraculous world he has become
And the diviner miracle still to be
When Nature who is now unconscious God
Translucent grows to the Eternal’s light,
Her seeing his sight, her walk his steps of power
And life is filled with a spiritual joy
And Matter is the Spirit’s willing bride.
It is thus that one becomes one with the One Sole Reality behind all appearances. It is then that one can comprehend how the miraculous world came into being and the even greater miracle it is destined to become. One sees it as a manifestation of the One and hence it is bound to ultimately manifest the One Divine Reality when Nature that now unconsciously tries to manifest God through ignorance becomes a conscious front of God turning the surfaces of creation itself as translucent mirrors of the Eternal Light rather than Its veils and shadows. Then life will be filled with a spiritual joy and Matter shall be wedded to the Spirit and become its conscious instrument and transparent robe.
Annul thyself
Consent to be nothing and none, dissolve Time’s work,
Cast off thy mind, step back from form and name.
Annul thyself that only God may be.”
Finally the Voice of Light bids her to consent to this ‘Nothingness’ and step out of the wheel of Time by transcending the limits and boundaries of Ignorance and stepping back from form and name. The final command for Savitri is to annul herself completely so that only God may be.
Closing Remarks
Savitri receives the program for the next great step to be taken in her yoga, to transcend the Mind and step back from all that the mind and senses weave and enter God’s Reality by completely annulling the ego-self.
