Opening Remarks
Savitri and Satyavan are none other than the Lord and His Eternal Spouse who have taken a human body to show the way to man.
New self and a new world
Thus were they in each other lost awhile,
Then drawing back from their long ecstasy’s trance
Came into a new self and a new world.
The union effectuated by love opens a new chapter, in fact a new door in the lives of those who have thus united. So was it for Savitri and Satyavan when they drew back from each other’s arms being lost for a while in an ecstatic embrace.
Wedded being’s vaster frame
Each now was a part of the other’s unity,
The world was but their twin self-finding’s scene
Or their own wedded being’s vaster frame.
Each now became a part of the other. Together now they faced the world as one being that had grown vaster through the union sublime.
A greater age
On the high glowing cupola of the day
Fate tied a knot with morning’s halo threads
While by the ministry of an auspice-hour
Heart-bound before the sun, their marriage fire,
The wedding of the eternal Lord and Spouse
Took place again on earth in human forms:
In a new act of the drama of the world
The united Two began a greater age.
On that afternoon, Fate tied them together with the morning rays. Time became the minister wherein heart bound with heart with the sun as the witness fire for their marriage, once more the eternal truth of the Lord and His Spouse was recreated upon earth in human forms. With this union, a new age began marking a new transition in the drama of the earth.
Love’s twain
In the silence and murmur of that emerald world
And the mutter of the priest-wind’s sacred verse,
Amid the choral whispering of the leaves
Love’s twain had joined together and grew one.
Amidst the silence and the murmur of the forest with the winds muttering as priests uttering the sacred verses for the marriage with the whisper of leaves as participants watching with joy, Love had bound them together and they grew one.
The natural miracle
The natural miracle was wrought once more:
In the immutable ideal world
One human moment was eternal made.
The natural miracle of love that brings two lives together and binds them into the joy of oneness had happened again in the ideal world where the sanction was given turning this human moment into a rhythm, beat of the Eternal. The Divine Will had sealed this moment with the stamp and signature of Truth.
Closing Remarks
It is a most remarkable description of the true truth of marriage though it is rarely executed due to the distortions of earthly life.
